Today’s we are going through some tech gadgets that everyone should be taking back to college with them. Some of the items might be obvious and some of the other items are going to be underrated items that you haven’t even thought of. However, all of these items are definitely going to come in handy at some point.
Alarm clock with dimmable light
The first tech gadget is quite underrated by it’s an alarm clock with dimmable light. The reason It is so important that you bring an alarm clock with a dimmable light because the dimmable light on the clock will actually help regulate your sleep and help you naturally get to bed and wake up in the morning.
When you go to college it is going to be hard to establish a solid sleep cycle. Maybe you’ll have a late-night partying or in the library. There might be some mornings where you have to wake up early to go to a lecture. If you’re like me you like waking up at the same time every day despite the fact that you went to sleep later the night before, having one of these alarm clocks in your room can actually help you naturally wake up in the morning feeling refreshed without even needing your alarm.
A good alarm clock is the Lummi body clock. This alarm clock wakes you up through the light. It slowly dims and brightens up your room to the point where it’s so bright you wake up naturally. Buy here
Laptop
The second tech gadget is arguably the most important on this list today. Obviously, you’re going to need a laptop when you go to college. Nowadays you’re going to find that not many people actually make their notes by hand, it’s just more convenient and practical to have digital notes as opposed to paper notes.
The laptop that you should buy really depends on your budget and what you’re going to use it for. If you’re purely going to be using the laptop to take notes, write coursework, do job applications, etc. you don’t need anything powerful, literally, any laptop is going to be able to do that. On the other hand, if you are a computer science major MacBook Pros are very popular but obviously, they are not cheap and not essential for all students.
An alternative to laptops is tablets. They can be much cheaper and if you buy an attachable keyboard they can have many of the same functionalities as a laptop. I would just recommend finding something that’s gonna fit your budget and fit your name.

In bed laptop stand
If you like watching your lectures in pajamas in your bed with a bunch of snacks you may struggle with two main issues. One your laptop might overheat because if you’re leaving it on your covers it’s kind of blocking the fans and that’s an issue and second is that you can actually hurt your neck muscles from sitting in your bed all the time like that on your laptop. The third piece of tech that I recommend is an in-bed laptop stand.
Most stands have a built-in USB fan so it can keep your laptop cool and it also elevates it a little so your neck isn’t at such an acute angle. This is a very underrated piece of tech but I’d highly recommend it if you’re a student at college and you like sitting in bed when you work. Buy here
Chromecast
The next tech gadget is so essential. If you have a TV in your house you want to have a Chromecast attached to it. It’s so handy, you may be sitting in your living room chilling, maybe eating dinner, maybe you’ve got people over, having a Chromecast is so handy because you can use it easily to stream on your TV. If you want to throw up a Netflix show you can literally just get on the app on your phone and cast it onto the TV, it’s so simple. Buy here
Mood lights
Mood lights in your room can give you the power to set different moods. For example, if it’s late at night and you’re doing a bit of Netflix and chill you might want to set the color to red to set the vibe. If you’re studying in your room you might want to change to purple so you know it’s time to do some work. This is a cool room accessory to have. Apparently, dyslexically changing the color of your room to blue can actually help you read better. Buy here
Game console
This doesn’t just apply to guys, take a console to college whether it’s the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, a Nintendo, Wii, and Xbox One. Chill with your housemates or people you have over, play games, and have a good time. Buy here
TV
Next up, if you can take a TV to college. It’s good to have a TV in your room so you don’t always have to go into the living room to watch TV. You can kill time in your room watching TV or wire your laptop up to the TV and use it as an external monitor or just pack a small external monitor to avoid hurting your neck looking down at your laptop all the time like I mentioned early. Wireless headphones
Wireless headphones are an essential item to take to college. I know some people don’t like the look of air pods but they are very comfortable and they have really good sound quality. Bose QuietComfort twos and Sony 1000 x m3 are two wireless headphones that I would recommend. Buy here
Speakers
